EPH-ephrin signaling in hyperoxia induced lunginjury
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction EPH-ephrin interactions have important roles in cell adhesion-based process during inflammation such as the disruption of endothelial-epithelial barriers and adhesion of leukocytes to endothelial cells allowing leukocyte egress into the extracellular space and increasing the leakiness of the endothelial barrier. This is a similar phenomenon with hyeroxia-induced toxicity which is a common complication of critical care practices involving supplemental oxygen therapy. However, little is known about the role of the EPH-ephrin pathway in hyperoxic acute lung injury.

Soluble forms of EphrinB2 and EphB4 reduce retinal neovascularization in a model of proliferative retinopathy.
PURPOSE Ephrin ligands and their Eph receptors are key regulators of endothelial cell (EC) proliferation, migration, adhesion, and repulsion during mammalian vascular development. The hypothesis was that these molecules also play a role in pathologic neovascularization (NV) in the mouse model of oxygen-induced retinopathy. METHODS C57BL/6 mice at postnatal day (P)7 were exposed to 75% oxygen ...
متن کاملBrain-Region Specific Apoptosis Triggered by Eph/ephrin Signaling
Eph receptors and their ligands, ephrins, are abundantly expressed in neuroepithelial cells of the early embryonic brain. Overstimulation of Eph signaling in vivo increases apoptotic cell death of neuroepithelial cells, whereas null mutation of the Eph gene leads to the development of a larger brain during embryogenesis. Thus, it appears that Eph-ephrin signaling plays a role in regulating apop...
متن کاملEph receptor signaling and ephrins.
The Eph receptors are the largest of the RTK families. Like other RTKs, they transduce signals from the cell exterior to the interior through ligand-induced activation of their kinase domain. However, the Eph receptors also have distinctive features. Instead of binding soluble ligands, they generally mediate contact-dependent cell-cell communication by interacting with surface-associated ligand...
متن کاملEph-B2/ephrin-B2 interaction plays a major role in the adhesion and proliferation of Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia.
PURPOSE The ephrin receptors (Eph) are found in a wide range of cancers and correlate with metastasis. In this study, we characterized the role of Eph-B2 receptor in the interaction of Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia (WM) cells with the bone marrow microenvironment. EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN We screened the activity of different receptor tyrosine kinases in WM patients and found that Eph-B2 was ove...
متن کاملAxo-Glia Interaction Preceding CNS Myelination Is Regulated by Bidirectional Eph-Ephrin Signaling
In the central nervous system, myelination of axons is required to ensure fast saltatory conduction and for survival of neurons. However, not all axons are myelinated, and the molecular mechanisms involved in guiding the oligodendrocyte processes toward the axons to be myelinated are not well understood. Only a few negative or positive guidance clues that are involved in regulating axo-glia int...
